Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examined empirically between Jigsaw type of Cooperative Learning (CL) method and the Problem-based Learning (PBL) method to interpersonal relationship. Participant of this study was taken from 633 studernt in Faculty of Education of UIN Alaudin Makassar . Interpersonal relationship in this study was measured using the interpersonal relationship scale. The data analysis techniques used was one-way ANACOVA with 2 co-variables. The one-way consisted of the PBL method and the Jigsaw type of CL and the 2 co-variables were intelligence and learning motivation. The data was analyzed using SPSS software for Windows version 16.0. Based on the results of covariant analysis the difference between Jigsaw type of Cooperative Learning method and the Problem-based learning method on interpersonal relationship, it resulted on the value of F = 35.540 with p = 0.000 (p < 0.01) by controlling motivation and intelligence aspects. It indicated that there was a very significant difference between the group of the students taught using Jigsaw type of Cooperative Learning method and those who taught using PBL method (R Square = 0.517). From this result shows the extent of the impact of the Jigsaw type of CL method and the PBL method on the interpersonal relationship was 51.7%, while the others was caused by the factors that were not measured in the study . The further analysis with Post-Hoc test using Least Square Difference (LSD) prove that the group of the students taught using the Jigsaw type of CL method had higher score of interpersonal skill than the group who taught using the PBL method (mean difference of 3.62.)
