Abstract
The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the learning system into disctance learning or online learning. This situation make most of students feels difficult to learn, including learning English Vocabulary. Therefore, students must have the right strategy in learning or improving their English vocabulary so that the learning can be accepted easily.
In general, students at SMA Negeri 4 Palu have various strategies in learning English Vocabulary. Regarding this matter, the description in this thesis departs from the problem, what are the strategies and what is the dominant strategy used by the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 4 Palu in learning English Vocabulary during Covid-19 Pandemic.
This research used quantitative approach, data collection techniques through questionnaires, data analysis techniques using descriptive statistics with Microsoft Excel.
The results of the data show that many students used more than one strategy in learning vocabulary. The strategies are determination, social, memory, cognitive and meta-cognitive strategies. And the most dominant strategy used by the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 4 Palu is determination strategy. It means students discover the meaning of new vocabulary in their own way.
From the conclusions obtained, it is recommended for teachers and students to improve themselves in relation to the learning process that has been carried out during online in covid-19 pandemic by paying attention to appropriate learning strategies to facilitate the learning process.
