Abstract

In general, English pronunciation is an important skill that students must master. However, there are still many students who have difficulty pronouncing words or sentences in English properly. This is influenced by the accent of their
native language, namely Kaili, which causes pronunciation errors when they communicate using English. Concerning this, the description in this thesis departs from the problem of
the research is to what extent does the Kaili accent influence English pronunciation of the 4
th semester English students at UIN Datokarama Palu? This research employs a qualitative approach method with a research sample of 4th-semester English students at UIN Datokarama Palu who are native speakers of the Kaili language. Data is collected through observation and
interviews. The data obtained is then analyzed by reduction, display, and
verification
